About The Artist

I am an art school graduate who never took a painting class. I studied graphic design, photography and cinematography and only started painting as a lark during my last year of school in 1970. I made my career in the advertising business as an art director/writer and then agency owner. But I always painted.

I like to try something new with every piece, to challenge myself as an artist. I like to tell a story with each of my paintings and hope that viewers will create their own stories as well.

Continuing Today…

Lately I have been working with polyurethane expanding foam and resin. These pieces are whimsical and a joy to make. Each piece is one-of-a-kind because the foam has a mind of its own. It’s unpredictable but that’s where the fun begins!

More than a Studio

The studio is always more than just a place to make art. It is as much a place to gather friends and have fun as it is a place to create. In the early 1970’s it was located at 29 W. Hubbard St. in the heart of Chicago in a 5 story loft building that housed four other artists (illegally). And for about 7 years the studio was the scene of a non-stop party. Ah, the good old days!

16 Unique Studios

Since those early days there have been 16 different Poobah Studios — Milwaukee WI, Chicago IL, Auckland NZ, Galveston TX, Gainesville FL, Long Island NY and finally, Miami FL where we continue to gather for creative inspiration.
